&lt;p>Thursday evening, kitchen table. She had her laptop open and the particular posture of an assignment she hadn&amp;rsquo;t started yet. Not distress, not complaining, just that specific stillness that means the work is there and she hasn&amp;rsquo;t touched it. I know that posture.
